We’re seeking an experienced truss and panel Design Manager to join the team and help grow operations in Central California. This location serves mostly track builders with a mix of commercial and custom home builders.
A Design Manager is responsible for the excellence in design manufacturing and leadership which drives our component design team in order to achieve and maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. This position at Kansas facility will be responsible for all day to day design activities at the location including: managing Designers, allocating design responsibilities and working with MiTek to provide ongoing training.
Requirements to be considered for this position:
· 5+ years previous management experience with components and/or manufacturing. Oversee Design staff for scheduling and quality of work. Maintain design and Designer standards.
· Communicate regularly with Design team to ensure optimum work culture consistent with Company values.
· Offer regular communication and reporting to division President.
· Mentor, train and build team to meet company objectives.
· Communicate as needed with component plant General Managers, Sales Staff and other Company employees for success.
· Visit physical locations as needed where projects are currently underway to monitor task completion and ensure the goals are being met
· Supervise the scope of a large-scale design projects and assess each worker’s contribution to the project design
· Collaborate with the management team of a build to offer assistance with technical details for the design or building process
· Report to and collaborate with customers and their designated project liaisons
· Estimating – Calculate the supply details for building materials and the labor requirements and determine the cost of everything to see if it falls within the budget of the project
· Survey building sites to determine ideal layouts for construction, identify elevations and grades and find reference points for each project
· Research potential environmental risks and impacts from the scope of the project and develop a plan to address concerns
· Maintain optimal standards during project management that follow all relevant federal, state, local and industry guidelines

Preferred Experience
• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in engineering
• Ten or more years of experience working as a component Designer
• Multiple years of leadership within industry.
• Proficiency in MiTek and additional/relevant industry applications.
